travel asia vietnam phu my highway QL51 (phu my to ho chi minh city)


Highway QL51 from Phu My to Ho Chi Minh City was my introduction to Vietnam and it's culture.
The highway is lined, almost continually, with shop-fronted homes, temples, and a wide mixture of other uses.
It reminded me of other places I had visited with a similar set up... and yet, it was unique in its own way.
I must say that it was quite different from what I might have expected...
It seems that capitalism, in the form of home businesses, is what is keeping the Communist workers paradise alive.
That, and tourism...
